Trends in Engagement Rings
Shape is an area that is being explored in a big way. While a classic round solitaire will never go out of style, brides today are trying out a variety of shapes that suit their personal taste. Princess cut stones are being replaced with elongated emerald cut stones, often placed on the horizontal rather than the vertical. Seen a lot these days is a very unusual cut called the trillion. This triangular shaped gem cut is extremely flattering for ladies with smaller hands who still want size in their stone.

We are also seeing a trend for brides selecting more than one color for their rings, and why not, with a rainbow of beautiful and colorful options to choose from, the sky is the limit. Jennifer Gandia reports, “Some are selecting uncommon colored gems, such as morganite or tourmaline while others use mixed metals or rough or colored diamonds.”

Engagement ring/wedding band duos are back in style but with a bold twist. Gone are the delicate sets of years past, replaced with bigger and bolder rings with unusual gem cuts and colors placed in heavier settings that work for both men and women. These sets often start with a base design but are more often than not customized for the couple with different stones in a variety of shapes and sizes.

A recent New York Times article confirms what we are finding among our customers—that family heirlooms with a twist are popular among the 20+ age group and it is not at all uncommon for this group to take a very traditional ring and adapt it to their personal taste.

In a nutshell, we found that couples are showcasing their personal style in their ring designs, and are not afraid to step out of the box to do it. So when you are ready to take this step, Israel Diamonds is here help!
